Freeboota Open: BA List Thoughts

The Freeboota Open is taking place at the end of November at Maelstrom in Mansfield. It's a 1750pt singles tournament on the Saturday and a 1500pt team tourny on the Sunday. Gav and I will be in attendance on both days so we'll see how Team Claws'n'Fists does on the Sunday!

With regards to the Competition on Saturday I had been thinking about taking my Open War list or a heavy Sternguard/Pedro list. However Gav and I were discussing the doubles lists we might take the other day and using Mephiston came up, I'd not really contemplated using him before so I tried to come up with a 1750pt list built around him.

Here's my first draft for your contemplation:

HQ
Mephiston
Lord of Death, need we say more?

ELITE
Chaplain
Goes with the Death Company in the Land Raider

Sanguinary Priest
Rides along with the Chaplain and projects his bubbles of broken-ness from inside the AV14 Bunker.

Furioso Dreadnought
Extra Armour, Blood Talons; Drop Pod
Part of the first wave assault, he drops close to the front lines and causes ... concern amongst the ranks.

TROOPS
Tactical Squad
(10) Flamer, Multi Melta; Drop Pod
Held back to drop later in the game and claim objectives, can combat squad out of the pod so multiple objectives may be captured.

Assault Squad
(5) Melta Gun
Deep striking unit for objective capping or threatening Armour.

Scout Squad
(10) 4x Snipers, 1x Missile Launcher, 5x Combat Blades
These guys are for tactical objective capping, infiltrating the snipers and either bubble-wrapping the cc scouts around them or holding the CC guys in reserve to outflank later in the game.

Death Company
(5), Power Fist, Infernus Pistol, Power Sword; Land Raider Crusader, Extra Armour, Multi Melta
This is my follow-up unit supported by a Chaplain for re-roll goodness and tailed by Mephiston for further support. Meph gets cover behind the Land Raider.

Death Company Dreadnought
Drop Pod
This guy drops with the Furioso Dread as part of my first wave.

FAST ATTACK
Baal Predator
Dozer Blade
A quick Scout move and smoke if I don't get first turn and this forms the third part of my first wave along with the two Dreads. I think it's enough to give most people pause for thought particularly with a Land Raider full of Death Company followed by Mephiston advancing across the board. What do you do hot-shot!?
